⚠️ When the Tech Fails and the Instructor Remains

🧭 Orientation

Technology will fail.

Accounts lock. Passwords expire. Updates stall. Systems argue with themselves.

This is not an emergency.

The system is not the job.

The job is:

  • Teaching safely
  • Exercising judgment
  • Acting professionally
  • Recording what matters

Everything else is a layer on top.

🧰 Field Guidance

When a tool fails in the field:

  1. Pause
    Stop reacting to the failure.
Assess whether safety or legality is actually compromised.

  2. Continue on fundamentals
If instruction can proceed safely, it should.
Paper, memory, and judgment still work.

  3. Defer repair
    Troubleshooting belongs off-duty.
Field time is not diagnostic time.

  4. Document simply
Capture what matters in whatever form is available.
    Systems can be updated later.

Operational Reminder

Experience does not evaporate because a screen flashes β€œinvalid.”

Tools are useful.
They are not essential.

πŸ““ Operational Note

There was a time before apps, dashboards, and cloud accounts.

Lessons were taught. Records were kept. Students learned.

Sometimes with paper. Sometimes with memory. Sometimes with frozen fingers and a payphone.

The tools changed. The responsibility did not.

Factoid

When systems fail, leadership does not.
