🛑 Road Test Booking Guardrail
📡 Copy/Paste and Transmit to Your Student when Needed
This page exists for one reason: to prevent avoidable booking problems.
A road test booking is not “just picking a date”. It has to match:
- instructor availability
- DriveTest appointment options
- lesson time needed before the test
- travel time and meeting location
- your readiness level (not just your enthusiasm)
If you book without coordinating first, you may end up with a test you can’t properly prepare for or I can’t attend.
✅ The Only Booking Process I Accept
Step 1: Check your readiness first
Before booking anything, make sure you can consistently do the basics without coaching:
- smooth stops and starts
- calm lane changes with proper checks
- steady speed control
- confident turns (left/right) and intersection scanning
- parking basics (at least acceptable, not perfect)
If you’re unsure, ask. If you’re nervous, that’s normal. But we still need a plan.
Step 2: Contact me to coordinate availability
Do not book first. Coordinate first.
My coordination window:
Tuesdays to Fridays, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (phone call only - insert your instructor phone number here)
Why a phone call?
Booking a test is a live scheduling task. Texting turns it into a 20-message guessing game and important details get missed.
Step 3: We match dates to the DriveTest calendar
During the call, we’ll:
- check my available lesson/test windows
- cross-check the DriveTest calendar options
- choose a time that allows proper preparation and travel time
- confirm the meeting plan (where we meet, what time, what to bring)
Step 4: You book the road test
Once we’ve agreed on the date and time, then you book it.
Immediately after booking, confirm with me:
- the exact date
- the exact time
- the pickup point
🚫 If You Book Without Coordinating First
If you book a road test without checking my availability first, here’s what may happen:
- I may already be booked with another student.
- I may not be able to reach the test center in time.
- There may not be enough lesson time left to prepare you properly.
In that situation, you will likely need to reschedule your test.
That’s not punishment. It’s logistics.
🧠 A Note for Parents and Support People
I understand the urgency and the excitement. But rushing the booking often creates:
- avoidable conflicts
- extra rescheduling fees
- unnecessary stress for the student
The fastest path to “road test done” is:
Coordinate → Book → Prepare → Test.
✅ If You Want the Earliest Possible Test Date
Here’s how to do that the right way:
- Call me during the coordination window: Tues-Fri, 6:30-8 PM
- Have your computer ready and pointed at: https://drivetest.ca/book-a-road-test/overview/
- Have your driver's license out
- Be prepared to choose from multiple options
- Book immediately once we confirm a time that works
This gets you the earliest realistic test date without risking a scheduling collision.
📌 Quick Copy Text (for your phone / texts)
If you’re texting me “when are you available?”, here’s the answer:
Please refer to my Road Test Booking Guardrail page and call me Tues–Fri between 6:30–8:00 PM so we can coordinate properly before you book.
✅ Bottom Line
If you want this to go smoothly:
Coordinate first. Book second.
That one rule prevents 90% of road test stress.
